Condition scale
Each grade represents a verified condition, not a gut feeling. And we don't evaluate the item as a whole, but each part individually — the case, inlay, and data carrier are listed separately for each item in the description. So, a worn case with a flawless disc won't get a mixed grade; instead, both will be described exactly as they are.
A+
Unused. For sealed goods, the original seal is intact — we don't open anything to check.
A
No discernible signs of wear. The item has been used, but it doesn't show.
B
Minimal signs of wear or scratches. You have to look closely to find anything.
C
Visible signs of wear or scratches. The honest standard for retro items — most games from the nineties belong here and function perfectly.
D
Significant signs of wear or scratches. Stickers, inscriptions, faded labels, or tears in the case. For those who prioritize function over shelf appearance.
Intermediate Grades
Sometimes a part falls between two grades. In that case, it will be stated, for example, B–C for something between very good and good. If a part is missing entirely, it will simply say Missing.
Why Each Part is Graded Individually
With used games, the components age differently. The case may crack, the instruction booklet may yellow, the disc may remain flawless — or vice versa. A single overall grade would always misrepresent one side.
That's why each item includes a breakdown like this:
- Case: D — Tear on front
- Inlay/Description: B
- Disc: C
The scope of delivery is always stated: what is actually included in the shipment.
What CIB and OVP Mean
OVP stands for Original Packaging: The case or box in which the game was sold is included.
CIB stands for complete in box: Game, original packaging, and manual are all present.
Repro indicates that a part is a reprint — usually a reprinted cover or instruction booklet. We always note this, even if it's barely noticeable.
How We Test
Every cartridge undergoes a test run, contacts are cleaned, and every disc is checked for scratches. Anything that doesn't start won't be sold as a functional game.
When in doubt, we prefer to grade one level lower rather than too high. A pleasant surprise upon unboxing is preferable to a complaint.
Is the Condition Not Right?
If an item arrives and the description doesn't match, please contact us — that's a defect, and in that case, the return shipping is on us. Regardless, you have a one-month right of withdrawal. More information can be found on the Returns page.
